Turnkey implants in Astana: what makes up the price, and why 80,000 and 400,000 are not the same thing

What is included in a "turnkey" implant price, why one tooth can cost anywhere from 80,000 to 700,000 ₸, where extra charges hide in an estimate, and how to compare offers from clinics in Astana. Tursunov Clinic's price list, item by item.

Key points

  • "Turnkey" means something different at every clinic. The real price of a tooth on an implant = implant + placement + abutment + crown + scans; at some clinics the abutment, healing cap or crown are not included in "turnkey."
  • At Tursunov Clinic, one tooth on a Korean implant with a metal-ceramic crown starts from about 195,000 ₸ (Izen 80,000 + abutment 25,000 + crown 90,000); on a Straumann implant with a zirconia crown it is about 680,000 ₸ (410,000 + 270,000). Eight systems sit between those two.
  • The price difference comes from the implant manufacturer (research base, follow-up period, service), the crown material, and what needs to be done to the bone before surgery.
  • A cheap implant is not necessarily bad, and an expensive one is not necessarily what you need. The surgeon chooses the system from the scan, not from a budget.

What "turnkey" actually means

A tooth on an implant is four things: a titanium root (the implant), a connector for it (the abutment), a crown, and the surgeon's and prosthodontist's work. Plus diagnostics: a CBCT scan before surgery and check-up scans afterwards. Plus — not always — a bone graft or sinus lift if there is not enough bone.

When a clinic advertises "implant, turnkey, 78,000," the price usually covers only the implant and its placement. The abutment and crown are billed separately and add another 100,000–200,000. That is not a scam — it is the same thing packaged differently. So the comparison that matters is not "turnkey" against "turnkey," but the full estimate for a finished tooth.

Here is what a full estimate at Tursunov Clinic looks like for two systems:

Implant with placement — 80,000 ₸ (promotion price, usually 120,000) — 410,000 ₸

Abutment — 25,000 ₸ — included in the Ti-base at 70,000 ₸

Crown, metal-ceramic / zirconia — 90,000 / 150,000 ₸ — 250,000 / 270,000 ₸

CBCT before surgery — 11,000 ₸ — 11,000 ₸

Total per tooth — ~206,000 / 266,000 ₸ — ~741,000 / 761,000 ₸

The consultation is free. A bone graft and a sinus lift are billed separately and only if they are needed: augmentation 60,000 ₸, a membrane 60,000–80,000 ₸, a sinus lift 200,000–450,000 ₸.

What a fivefold price difference actually pays for

1. The manufacturer and its track record. Straumann has been making implants for over 40 years, and Straumann Tissue Level has some of the longest published follow-up series in implantology. Korean systems (Izen, MegaGen) are younger but are made in the millions and have been well studied over the last 15 years. Part of what you pay for is the size of the research base and the guarantee that components for this implant will still be made in 20 years.

2. Surface and design. Expensive systems mean special surface treatment (bone attaches faster), variants for narrow bone and immediate loading (Straumann BLX), a polished neck (Tissue Level). For a standard case — healthy bone, a molar, no time pressure — that edge may simply not be needed.

3. The crown. Metal-ceramic is cheaper; zirconia is stronger and does not show a grey line at the gum. Front teeth more often get zirconia; either works on a molar.

4. The bone. If many years have passed since the extraction, the bone has thinned and there may be nowhere to place the implant. Then a graft comes first — a separate operation with a separate cost. There is no saving on it: an implant will not hold in thin bone.

5. The work itself. A surgeon with 30 years of experience and a prosthodontist who checks how the crown seats are part of the price too. At this clinic that work is built into the price, not charged 'on top of the visit.'

Why you cannot choose an implant by price

The implant system is the surgeon's decision, and it depends on the scan: how much bone there is in height and width, how dense it is, which tooth is being replaced, and whether a temporary crown will go on right away. In one case Izen is enough and paying more makes no sense; in another the bone only suits an implant with a particular thread and surface.

The honest order is this: a free consultation and a CBCT scan first (11,000 ₸), then the surgeon names two or three systems that actually suit you, with a price for each — and you choose among those by budget.

What to ask when comparing clinics

What does the quoted price include: the implant, placement, the abutment, the crown, the scans?

Which implant system, and why is it the right one for me?

Is a bone graft needed, and how much does it cost?

How many visits will it take, and how long until the permanent crown?

What are the warranty terms, and who is responsible if something goes wrong?

If the answer to the first question is "everything is included" with no breakdown, ask for a written estimate.

Instalment plans

Kaspi Red 0-0-24 and Halyk 0-0-12: a tooth on Izen works out to roughly 9,000 ₸ a month over two years, on Straumann roughly 31,000 ₸. A step-by-step estimate is given in writing: the implant and the crown are placed a few months apart, and payment can follow the same steps.

Frequently asked questions

Why is your Izen 80,000 while the clinic next door charges 78,000 for Osstem — is it the same thing?

They are different Korean manufacturers of a similar class. Compare the full cost of the finished tooth and who is placing it, not just the implant line.

Does a more expensive implant integrate better?

Survival rates for modern systems are all above 95%; the difference lies in long-term bone stability, options for difficult bone, and service. In a straightforward case you will not notice the difference.

Can I get a cheaper implant with an expensive crown?

Yes, that is a common combination: Izen implant with a zirconia crown — 150,000 ₸ for the crown.

Is the "turnkey" price fixed?

The estimate is fixed in writing after the CBCT scan; it only changes if surgery reveals that a graft is needed — and you are warned about that in advance.
